We Grow Flavor
CSA or "Community Supported Agriculture" is a socio-economic model of agriculture and food distribution. A CSA consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farming operation where the growers and consumers share the risks and benefits of food production. CSA's usually consist of a system of weekly delivery or pick-up of vegetables.

The CSA concept started in Japan in the 1960's the term there means "Food with a Face". The concept then moved to Europe in the 1970's and arrived in the United States in the 1980's in New England.

The concept has changed somewhat from its original beginnings, but the results have always been the same, to connect consumers with farmers for a mutally beneficial relationship. The consumer gains ultra-fresh, locally and usually organically grown vegetables thru out the growing season. The Farmer is able to achieve a guaranteed market with prepaid annual sales, and some financial stability and focus on his core duties, of tending the crops, and caring for the land.

How it works

Picture
A pre-season purchase is required to be part of our CSA. Payment options are available please contact Farmer Jim for details. Starting in June each week for 18 weeks you will receive a seasonal mix of vegetables and herbs. We guarantee 6 to 8 varieties of vegetables with an herb each week minimum, and can see counts as high as 14 varieties at peak harvests.

Our box sizes for this season will be as follows: Small = 1/4 bushel for a family of 1-2, Medium = 1/2 bushel for a family of up to four, and Large = 3/4 bushel for a family of up to 6. These are estimates only, you should decide your share size on your families weekly vegetable intake.

Each week you will also receive a newsletter with your share, with what is exactly in your share that week. Some tips and tricks on how to preserve or prepare your veggies, or what not to do. We also give you at least one recipe, using the most obscure vegetable of that week. We often include recipes from other members on the newsletter too. So don't be shy, send us your best veggie recipes.
A CSA does not replace 100% of your  veggies for the season. We are the farmers and we still need to visit  farmers markets, or other stores that sell organic produce, but we do provide many of your core vegetables, and new ones to challenge your cooking skills , and tempt your taste buds. Some of the vegetables we provide in our CSA  simply can not be found in a store, you can only get them from us or grow them your self.

If you have a garden, that doesn't mean you can't join a CSA, and just because you're in a CSA doesn't mean you shouldn't have a garden, you should on both accounts. If you are a gardner, and enjoy gardening, consider growning new items you were always afraid to grow due to size constraints, and let us provide your vegetables, or focus on one type of crop you really enjoy, and still have your garden fresh vegetables too.

Shared Commitment

Picture
Shared Risk, Shared Reward we do our best to provide you with beautiful and nutritious veggies and herbs, but since mother nature provides no guarantees - we can not offer any either. That is the premise for the community supported agriculture model, in that the share holder or member shares in the risk and rewards of the farm.
You are commited to us as your farm for the season, and we are commmited to you as your farmer for the season. We pledge to give you our very best efforts, and provide you with nutritious vegetables all season long. All Sales are final, no refunds.
